Rotarians, family, and friends recently enjoyed a fall backyard social at the home of Tim and Deb Cornelius. It was a lovely evening of fellowship and food.
Rotary provides many opportunities to make friends with fellow leaders in the community who enjoy giving back and making a positive difference in the world.

The Burkburnett Rotary Club sent three BHS students (Lexi, Andrew, and Mitchell) to the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp this summer. RYLA is an intensive program for students, focusing on professional development, team building, community service, and leadership training. Lexi attended our weekly Rotary meeting to present her experiences at camp. She said she learned invaluable ‘Service Before Self’ lessons that she will carry into college and adulthood. She was very thankful for the opportunity to attend and encouraged the Burkburnett Rotary Club to continue to send students to RYLA. Pictured with Lexi are her dad and grandparents

AJ Lewis with the Burkburnett Independent School District received an award of appreciation for his hard work on the Buddy Bench.

The Buddy Bench program is an initiative to promote friendship and combat loneliness at the elementary schools.

The Burkburnett Development Corporation Executive Director, Travis Haggard inducted into the Rotary Club of Burkburnett at the March 28th meeting.

A resident of Burkburnett, Travis has been in Rotary having first joined in 2011. We look forward to working with Travis on our future service projects.

Congratulations Travis Haggard.

Rotarian of the day was Bill McGuire with our program being Connie Marshall with Emily’s Legacy Rescue.

Emily’s Legacy Rescue started in 2014.
They hold regular adoption days at the Wichita Falls Petco location.

When pets come in they are evaluated. This includes seeing if they are good with other pets and people. Their physical health is evaluated as well.

They have a 9 kennel facility off of Kelley Rd in Wichita Falls. However, they only do adoptions through applications not walk ins.

Historian, Leanne Ray, shares some wonderful local history about boot making at our November 22nd meeting.

Thank you Leanne for an incredible tale of how boots began and how they were reinvented over the years. From the man with a dream to a daughter on a mission to keep the business in her hometown town of Nocona, Tx.
